Cape Town’s recently opened Shortmarket Club took home the award for Best New Restaurant at this year’s inaugural Conde Nast Gourmet awards, held at the Cape’s historic Klein Constantia wine estate. The judging panel included culinary experts Bernadette Le Roux, Neil Roake, Leigh Robertson, and Susan Greig.
Haute Cabrière is one of my most favourite wine farms. Their Chardonnay Pinot Noir and Pierre Jourdan Brut are welcome regulars in my wine glass. Waterkloof Estate’s superbly talented chef, Gregory Czarnecki, was awarded the coveted title of Eat Out’s 2016 Chef of the Year. As if that weren’t enough, his ‘restaurant in the sky’ came third in SA’s top 10 and was crowned the finest eatery in the Helderberg.
