Ramen burgers

First, there was the burger pie, then there was the hot dog pizza, the pizza cone, the cronut … the list goes on. We are massive fans of these happy hybrids, so we came up with a fusion food of our own Ramen burgers! Give it a try, and you can thank us later.

For the ‘buns’
4 × 75 g two-minute noodles
2 eggs
Vegetable oil, to fry
For the patties
800 g beef mince
½ cup chopped coriander
¼ cup soy sauce
¼ cup sesame oil
4 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped
4 spring onions, chopped
1 tsp Chinese five-spice
½ tsp chilli powder
Salt and pepper
Vegetable oil, to fry

4 eggs, fried
¼ cup chopped coriander
2 spring onions, chopped

For the ‘buns’
1. Cook the noodles in salted boiling water for 3 minutes, then drain.
2. Lightly whisk the eggs, then add to the noodles.
3. Divide noodles into 8 portions and place in hamburger-patty moulds or ramekins. Wrap in cling film and place something heavy on top. Refrigerate for 10–15 minutes, to set.
4. Heat a little oil in a non-stick pan and fry the noodle ‘buns’ for about 5 minutes a side, until cooked through and golden.
For the patties
1. Combine all the ingredients (except vegetable oil) and form into 4 patties to fit the buns.
2. Heat a little vegetable oil in a non-stick pan and fry the patties for about 5 minutes a side, until cooked through and browned.
To serve
1. Top each bun with a patty, cheese, a fried egg, mayonnaise, coriander and spring onions. Sandwich with another bun.
