A braai just wouldn’t be complete without hoards of garlic bread. That’s why we’re introducing you to three gourmet recipes perfect for your next shindig.
SERVES 6–8 // COOKING TIME 20 min, each
Olive & feta garlic bread
INGREDIENTS
125 g butter, at room temperature
3 tbsp olive pesto
2 wheels feta
2 garlic cloves
1 baguette
METHOD
1. Blitz together butter, pesto, feta and garlic until smooth.
2. Make slices in the baguette, without cutting all the way through.
3. Spread a generous amount of butter between the slices.
4. Wrap the baguette in foil and braai for 10–12 minutes, until the butter has melted and the bread is toasted.
Thai-style ginger & coriander garlic bread
INGREDIENTS
125 g butter, at room temperature
½ cup coriander
2 garlic cloves
2 cm ginger
1 red chilli
1 baguette
METHOD
1. Blitz together the butter, coriander, garlic, ginger and chilli until smooth.
2. Make slices in the baguette, without cutting all the way through.
3. Spread a generous amount of butter between the slices.
4. Wrap the baguette in foil and braai for 10–12 minutes, until the butter has melted and the bread is toasted.
French-inspired blue cheese garlic bread
INGREDIENTS
125 g butter, at room temperature
100 g blue cheese
2 garlic cloves
1 baguette
METHOD
1. Blitz together butter, cheese and garlic until smooth.
2. Make slices in the baguette, without cutting all the way through.
3. Spread a generous amount of butter between the slices.
4. Wrap the baguette in foil and braai for 10–12 minutes, until the butter has melted and the bread is toasted.
