We took a trip from the farms of Franschhoek to Reuben’s restaurant table, all in pursuit of what makes stone fruit so fantastic – recipes included!
Guess what, foodies? We’re spicing things up here at MyKitchen! We recently sent our fearless foodie adventurers Christine and Geraldine on a mission to a tantalising stone fruit farm-to-table experience hosted by consumer education project Juicy Delicious, and let’s just say taste buds were dancing.
From the farm to the pack house, we got to witness first-hand how freshly picked produce is transformed into a three-course meal bursting with flavour and creativity. We’re talking hands-on harvesting, learning from the experts, followed by a three-course farm-to-table feast that exploded with flavour. From perfectly ripe peaches to nectarines bursting with sunshine, every bite was a revelation.
Not only did we get the low-down on all things peaches, plums, and nectarines from the experts over at Fresh1 Produce, but we also feasted on some delectable dishes at Reuben’s restaurant in Franschhoek that left us wanting more.
Starters
For starters: Griddled Fine Beans & Nectarine Salad Crunchy Seed Salad. Three words: fresh, light, filling! And the dressing really ties all the flavours together.
Mains
For mains, Sweet Soy Chicken & Peach Skewers were on the cards and honestly – this pairing was everything! It’s one of those meals that’s quick to whip up yet packs a real punch, too!
Dessert
To wrap things up, Plum Gallettes for dessert definitely hit the sweet spot!
This experience has us buzzing with inspiration (check it out on our reels!), and we’re channelling that energy into an exciting new direction for MyKitchen.
