Are you ready for the 4th annual Stokvel cooking challenge with the grand prize sitting at R40 000?

White Star Super Maize Meal, in partnership with Royco and Move! magazine have come together once again to offer stokvels across South Africa an exciting challenge to give you an opportunity to show off your culinary skills.

‘Coming together and sharing a delicious meal is exactly what a stokvel is all about,’ says White Star Marketing Manager, Mokhele Makhothi, and they can’t wait to see what kind of creative, traditional and tasty dishes you guys will be whipping up.

3. Why you think your stokvel deserves to be in the Stokvel Cooking Challenge 2017

From there, three groups will be chosen from each participating region and invited to part-take in the semi-final workshops which will take place on 6 May (East London), 24 June (KwaZulu-Natal),  1 July (Nelspruit) and 5 August (Gauteng)

The winning regional semi-finalists will move on to the final cook-off in Pretoria on 26 August where your best dishes will be tasted and judged by actress and White Star chef, Mapaseka Koetle, and Royco-mama, Siphokazi Mdlankomo. ‘When it comes to the winning dish, I am hoping it will remind me of my mom cooking a traditional meal that tastes like home,’ says Mapaseka.
