R50 kidney-bean mince

Our guide on how to make R50 kidney-bean mince
Need to whip up something in a jiffy? Throw together a pot of kidney-bean mince, toast some bread, and boom! Dinner is served.

SERVES 4

INGREDIENTS
2 tbsp olive oil
250g carrots, peeled and grated
2 onions, peeled and chopped
2 red chillies, seeded and finely sliced
500g beef mince
410g tin chopped tomatoes
1 cup water
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
410g tin kidney beans, drained and rinsed
Salt and pepper
1 French loaf, diagonally sliced and toasted

METHOD
1.
Heat the olive oil in a pot over low heat. Add the carrots, onions and chillies and cook until the onions are translucent.
2. Add the mince and cook for 8 minutes, or until browned. Add the chopped tomatoes, water and Worcestershire sauce and simmer for 30 minutes. Add the kidney beans, season and simmer for a further 15 minutes.
3. Serve with toasted French loaf.
