Zanele van Zyl’s chilli mayo beef burger recipe is definitely one for the books.
SERVES 4 // PREP TIME 20 min // COOK TIME 10 min
INGREDIENTS
For the burger patties
500 g beef mince
1 red onion, finely chopped
Handful fresh coriander, finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp barbecue spice
1 tsp ground coriander
For the chilli mayo
3 tbsp mayonnaise
1 garlic clove, minced
2 red chillies, finely chopped
To serve
4 burger buns
1 tomato, sliced
½ red onion, thinly sliced
1 baby cos lettuce
METHOD
For the burger patties
1. Combine the mince, onion, coriander, garlic, barbecue spice and ground coriander in a bowl, and mix until well combined. Season to taste.
2. Divide the mixture into four large balls and press down to create a patty shape.
3. Glaze a pan with cooking oil and fry the patties to your preference.
For the chilli mayo
1. Mix together all the ingredients in a bowl. Season to taste.
To serve
1. Assemble your burgers with the tomato, onions slices and lettuce. Enjoy!
